The Area around Hérépian

Lovers of the great outdoors will find plenty to occupy them in the area around Hérépian. Many popular sports and leisure activities are available within easy reach of the town, and its geographical location and Mediterranean climate render it the perfect base for an active life. The Mediterranean Sea is only an hour away and the historic city of Béziers is reached within 45 minutes.

The landscape in this lovely area is like a natural amphitheater that slopes down gently from the foothills of the Cevennes, the Larzac plateau and the Montagne Noir in to the Mediterranean.

There are plenty of natural and cultural sites to visit and enjoy here. You’ll find gorges and lakes, plateau and watercourses. From one location to the next the climate, fauna and flora can vary wildly. The built up heritage is also very rich with medevial villages, fountains and chateaux- not to mention the acres of vineyards.

Inland, where Hérépian is located, is dominated by the wild landscape with villages on cliff edges over looking the Mediterranean scrubland. You can also visit Languedoc National Park located on the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela and where the Atlantic and Mediterranean climate meet.

On the coast

The coast is about 90 min drive away with stunning beaches. A beautiful place to visit is The Thau and Pezenas Areas. The Thau lagoon with Sete as it’s main own is famous for it’s oysters and quiet little ports. The Pezenas area is filled with art and history and was the settings that first brought the playwright Moliere to prominence. Along the coastline you can also visit the Petit Camargue with its herd of bulls, wild white horses and pink flamingos.


This stunning city is about 1 h drive from Hérépian and offers anything you could wish for- shopping, culture, restaurants, cafés and a wonderful atmosphere.

Montpellier is the fastest growing city in France and the capital of the Languedoc-Roussillon region. It is also the most seductive city in the French south at any time, is elegant and cultured, with an autumn sun warm enough to sit out on its squares. With Mediterranean blood coursing through its veins and dynamism to spare. Lacking industry, the place has majored on brains and bravura. World-class architects are forever turning up to add showpieces.

Lamalou Les Bains

The spa town of Lamalou-les-Bains is about a 10 min drive from Hérépian and dates back to the 13C. Today, the resort is the ideal starting point of excursions through the Caroux region where hiking, mountain biking and riding can be enjoyed. Here you can find several lovely restaurants and even a casino. The village is famous for it’s health giving water sources, with no fewer than fifteen sources. It is of course a spa town, and the thermal baths have been popular since the 17th century. Here you can enjoy being pampered in one of the many spa rooms.
